Aoife McCann(she/her)

Aoife has over 20 years' experience supporting people with a disability and their families. She is passionate about the human rights dimension of this work — ensuring that people whose perspectives have too often been overlooked or unheard are genuinely listened to, valued, and included on their own terms.

Aoife moved to Australia in 2010, having previously worked as a teacher and then an Educational Psychologist. She has worked with Scope Australia and the University of Melbourne to deliver training in Positive Behaviour Support to over 300 practitioners, helping build a workforce grounded in respect, dignity, and person-led support. She was also part of a team that partnered with Swinburne University to develop virtual reality training in PBS for support workers, reflecting her ongoing commitment to innovative, high-quality practice in the sector.

More recently, Aoife has partnered with a lived experience psychologist to co-produce and deliver an Autism-affirming Positive Behaviour Support micro-credential for the University of Melbourne — a project grounded in genuine co-design, bringing lived and professional expertise together to shape practice that truly reflects Autistic perspectives and priorities.
