LOAPAC Code of Ethics
Members understand that the neurodiversity affirming paradigm is the lens through which we view all variations of the human brain, not just Autistic and ADHD brains.
Members are deeply committed to affirming the natural adaptative operating system of Autistic brains., including - but not limited to - Autistic communication, information, and sensory processing patterns.
Members consider and address environmental/ systemic factors that impact the lives of Autistic people and do not limit assessment or support to intrapersonal factors.
We are firmly against practices that undermine the self determination of Autistics.
Members are committed to ongoing education about neurodiversity, Autistic and ADHD research, and reflection on their own biases and assumptions.
Members seek to work collaboratively with allied and medical health colleagues.
Members will seek to educate practitioners who still use the medical model with integrity and good will.
Members adhere to the three-pronged fundamentals of evidence based practice.
Members prioritise self care and seek support as needed.
Members shall respect the intellectual property of others.
Members will have well documented plans to support themselves and their clients should they (the member) require time off work for self care.
